Best Day

Today was the best day at the senior center yet. I arrived there when the other elder volunteers had just finished their council meeting and they all knew me even though I had never met any of them. There was four of them left since others had left the meeting already and sort of the “main” volunteers decided to stay to discuss things. I walked in the room where I usually go and my mentor/supervisor said to them, “and that is Bilal. We were just talking about you!” Then one of the council members said, “nice to meet you! [as we shook hands]. Your clients say nothing but good things about you and how much you are helping them and US! [she said that while laughing]. You have taken a huge burden off our shoulders by helping the clients that we can’t help since we just can’t get them to understand.” Then the other three also said nothing but compliment me and I just felt so appreciated that it was incredible. I have never felt more appreciated than that in my life. Anyways, Roland Hutter with his Android phone came in today since I told Lisa to schedule him for today over Ron Cardilico simply because I met Mr. Hutter before Cardilico because Hutter came in before Mr. Cardilico last week. Anyways, even though I taught Mr. Hutter how to accept calls, he still could not do the task on his own until we spent about 20 minutes going over it again and again and why there were so many options to accept, decline, or leave a message when called. To be honest, this senior is one of those people that ask “why? What’s its significance and purpose?” to everything I teach him. I then answer with a nice calm tone ☻. Then he wanted to know more about delete group chats and creating them and what their significance was…. Anyhow, productive session overall. Great day though.
