My research question was: What is the importance of technology in our world and why do we need to be fluent in technology in our era? I found that living a normal life without the use of technology is difficult because most of the tasks nowadays are done using technology and the internet. Also, technology was most prevalent in help education, the economy, and communication. Technology is transforming the U.S. economy simply because the unemployment rate is dropping. United States Department of Labor writes, “advances in the computer industry, coupled with those in telecommunications, have created the new information technology, or IT, industry and inaugurated an information age” (n.d.). Advances in technology have created new opportunities in professions and even created new professions which overall have helped the economy since more people can have the occupations they are interested in— which overall leads to higher rates of employment. Labor can be done more efficiently with the use of technology and does not require as much effort now since technology plays a vital role in almost every profession now. Thanks to the use of technology in the workforce, employees have diverse ways to accomplish their tasks with interest in the manner they prefer and have a passion for performing. I believe that for most people, life daily is almost impossible to live without technology and my research proved that since for most daily tasks, the use of any sort of technology plays a major role.

            These findings have helped to drive my project because I wanted to expose senior citizens to all the new and fascinating technology that would find it unbelievable. I have done exactly that. I could have just taken my knowledge of technology and taught a younger group of people, but what good would that have done? I decided to help senior citizens since they have not been exposed to technology. Every single senior citizen I have taught has been so fascinated by what their technological devices can do. I wanted to help people that would appreciate my help a lot and it would change their lifestyles and overall make life more convenient. I did exactly that by exposing senior citizens to technology which greatly helped them with life tasks such as; online billing/payment, forms of communication (email, texting, calling), listen to music through Bluetooth connected to their cars, searching the internet for answers or general knowledge, using technology for directions, entertainment without leaving the house, and most importantly; reading books. Senior citizens have appreciated these conveniences very much as they use most of them on a daily basis.

            Overall, my research proved that technology controls many aspects of people’s lives now and they need they always stay up-to-date with the changes. Considering that, I wanted to help the group of people that were behind on technology and fascinate them with the things technology is capable of!
