Met with a senior by the name of “Pat Rust” today and it went very well. We were able to get through five topics she wanted to discuss with ease. She was my first client that actually wanted to do things herself; usually my clients let me “control” the device and they just watch. She would say “let me try that now” every time I would show her something new. She first wanted to know why she did not have a contacts app on her LG android. I showed her that her contacts were in the phone app and she was surprised. Then she wanted to learn how to delete messages and the instant thought that came to me brain was *why does she want to delete them?* I obviously never asked her since my job is to teach and it is not my business but yeah. Actually, when dealing with email and messages I try to avoid opening one of the messages to not intrude my clients’ privacy. Then she wanted to organize her apps in one place and I showed her how to but she said, “I don’t know if I want to put them in folders. It is too overwhelming and I might forget where I placed my apps [laughing].” I laugh every time my clients laugh. Like a solid 70% of the conversations and sessions are filled with laughter unless I get a serious client. Nonetheless, this session was my most productive yet and I actually felt proud of myself and my client since she knew how to use her phone while most of my clients do not and I have to teach them which takes a lot longer and I sometimes feel like I could have covered more with my client.
