I actually got to the senior center at 3:25 PM and my supervisor was not there and she is also the head coordinator. My clients also arrived early at 3:30 PM so I was not obviously going to make them wait until Lisa (my supervisor) got there. So we decided to start right away 30 minutes early. They were a couple; the second couple I have had out of my 5 sessions. The husband’s name was Holger Lundin and the wife’s name was Judy Holger. They were my second couple in a row and oh my, they were extremely, extremely kind. I honestly thought some of them might have been a tiny bit racist or judgmental but I was clearly proven wrong. Every senior I have gotten so far has been very appreciative of my help and they endlessly thank me for what I taught them. These couples said these following phrases so much that I smiled every single time they said them. They continuously said, “oh boy,” “that’s really good,” “I never knew that,” and “no one ever told us this.” The thing is, they both said those phrases at the same exact time and I honestly love helping out couples because when one of them understand something while the other one does not, the one who understands them explains it to the one who does not understand. The original problem they had was a yellow band appearing across their Kindle Fire that stated that their email was not connected. I honestly had never used a Kindle before, so I asked them to let me explore for about 10 minutes and the wife said, “okay, we will watch as you explore and maybe we will be able to pick up a thing or two [laughing + smiling].” At the end, we never found the cause of the yellow band but I taught them so many basic things and skills to make their life easier and they were just so shocked and happy to learn. Mrs. Holger said, “oh boy we are gonna go home and have fun tonight right Holder?” She was so enthusiastic to use the skills I taught her and do them herself. Two of the kindest people I have had as of yet.
